I’ve looked at the threads on speedos but didn’t see my issue. I’ve owned my 348 for 2 years and just noticed the speedo never goes to zero. Off or on, the speedo always sits @10 mph. When I clock it , its about 7-8 mph slower than the speedo reads. Has anyone seen this? I don’t want to go back to my Ferrari guy if there’s a fix.

    That's where it sits.
    I wondered the same thing.
Save your $ for something eventually needing fixed.

Mike you did a good explanation of the typical 348 speedo. Nothing to worry about.

Mine over reads by about 10mph, I posted a week or so about this. When I get little more time there are two options to investigate. Firstly remove the speedo to see if it has the adjustment facility like the 308 as linked on my348.com. Or obtain an in line chip to correct the calibration as linked by another forum member in that thread.

Speedometers on most cars are deliberately set to over-read, ~ 5 mph at lower speeds and up to about 10 mph at higher speeds. I guess the manufacturers want to be on the safe side against potential claims for reimbursement of speed tickets.

INdeed, you can not under read. There is a formula in the legislation. THis also ensures you don’t over read to much. IT equates to less than 10% which mine clearly does not meet.

I have seen these cars with 360 tires which are way larger and 275/35 which is way smaller. All affect it. If it is way off with factory wheels may need to do something. I'll check mine with gps this weekend to see as well.

Lots of car speedo's don't even go down to zero. On others the gap from zero to 20 is half of the space from 20 to 40. This has been covered on here before. I couldn't believe that I'd been driving for 40 years and not noticed this! Ferrari printed a scale that is evenly spaced and starts at Zero but the needle can't get down there as in the pic above. Nothing wrong with your speedo. Go and check out your other cars, you may be surprised.

zero to 10 in this one is less.
