Anyone familiar with this 348 Spider?...
Anyone familiar with this 348 Spider? http://autoworks-international.ebizautos.com/detail.aspx?iid=1043385&anchor=/1994/Ferrari/348/Spider/Convertible/ I've spoken with the dealer, and he sent me copies of all of the records. Last major '02, but adding that to the price would make it about right. Obviously needs a PPI. Price seems very low, but he told me that they are dying to sell this car. They have dropped the price about $5k. Are those wheels aftermarket?
Nice looking car. Seems UNDER priced at $48K. Even needing major in year or 2. At that price I could live with chrome rims. I think those were an expensive dealer option.
That's a steal in my opinion, you can always sell the stock chrome wheels when you buy it, some like them better than not chrome. This car will sell fast at that price. Stephane Scaledetails
Not that fast... It's been for sale asking under 50k for SEVERAL months. I think there are some carfax type issues or something. It was discussed in another thread about 2 months ago.
I have to agree with Ben, It has been for sale for quite some time. Usually the good ones are gone pretty quick, in the 348 market .
It sends a red flag to me when there are no interior or engine pics. Also, no big deal but some of the wheels are on backwards.
That car has a clean title?? That thing is VERY under priced. Something is up. Put me and Ben down for 2 each at that price.
Photo 12 and 26 shows the rear bumber has come off. Maybe a crash or whatever. But they couldnt put it back on straight. The lines dont match up if you look at those pic's. Also the bonnet(Front). Looks like its come off too. It just sits a little to far back, a bit to high. People chrome wheels for two reasons: 1st, they like the look of it. or 2nd, they have been damage pretty bad and fixed them, couldnt get the colors right so they chromed it. And I dont think they look good either!
For some reason the rear bumper is out of alignment pretty bad, and too low on the drivers side, and the trunk is missing the rear 348 emblem, repainted by chance?
just goes to show.. Carfax only catches about 70% of what actualy happens to cars. They use the insurance companies database and about 30% of insurance companies do NOT share their claim history. Add that to the number of people who chose to sell cars after an accident to a wholesaler = no Carfax report or people who fix them out of their own pocket... I agree the panels looked a bit off in the pictures. That's why I never investigated further when I was looking for one a few months ago. If it was a "clean" car a wholesaler would pay $48k for it and you'd see it show up on another dealers lot for $65k plus. Just my $0.02
hey just be careful i purchased a 1995 348 spider the guy who's name is buzz was short on info he advertized as clean car fax and the car had been in a a crash ! i found out before i purchased a bought any way based on info i got from the previous owner. he had pictures with the tool kit in the front and the car was delivered without one he said he would find me one and never did ! as it turned out i got a great deal on a new tool kit found in a stock room at ferrari of atlanta nos ! the car had over spray on the inside of the wheels and driver side door jam as well and nothing was said about that ! i should have had an independent inspection done ! since a got along great with the guy and i have been in the automotive repair business over 20 years i trusted this guy as a industry partner and it turns out there is no trust ! i'm happy with the car and spent some cash to fix it up nice mechanicaly and hope to fix body issues this winter. i will never purchase a ferrari with out my ass in the seat and under hood ! be very carefull with this clown ! bob
if the car hasn't sold at that price there is a reason. In my opinion you get what you pay for. Anything underpriced with Ferrari's, your taking a chance. Sit tight and the right one will come by. As my father says "when one pope dies, they're three more waiting to fill his place". Good words to live by!
I spoke with a salesman today and was told that the front skirt was repainted because of going over a parking lot concrete thing. They dont have a problem with it bieng picked up to have a PPI done on it. I'm going to call Algar in Philly and see if they will do one. I asked about the rear bumper and was told that they didn't know of any rear end damage. The car has had 4 owners and not alot of history past the last few years. The 30K service was done in 2002 with not alot of miles put on it after that. I know that it will need another one soon. I know this thread has been on here before with alot of skepticism but if it passes a PPI what do you guys think? Steve
