I’m asking for some help and knowledge My spider I thought had after market door speakers but after removing the panel the construction looks OE. I’m not impressed how the look cutting through the crema detail. And the plan is to either delete or hide the speaker under the leather detail. I’d prefer to delete altogether. any ideas please let me know. edd Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Many thanks for your reply. Yes I’m aware how they look without speakers I’m trying to find out if they were a factory option. The fibreglass panel used on my very late 94 spider looks very original and is made for a speaker.
Same as my U.K. spec . Enzo hated in car entertainment paraphernalia. That’s why the head units are concealed and the speakers too hidden behind the door carpet . @ Eddie …..I afraid yours is highly likely after market , or a option ? Hard to tell without the build sheet .
Yes so showing the speaker and I’m sure it had speakers from factory now hence the small dash ones are tweeters I’m led to believe. I’m not so sure Ferrari would have cut a semi circle in the leather trim to facilitate the speaker ?
Wow that makes total sense why hide the radio and show a speaker. That’s why other threads talk about muffled sound. Thanks that’s really helpful. I’m totally with enzo funny that
Well Enzo was dead by the time the spider came out *and* the MCP diagram clearly shows the semi-circle cut.
The diagram does not show any semi-circle cut in the leather covered panel above the carpeted one. Otherwise, the speaker sits behind the carpet (there is a hole for it in the hard backing of the speaker panel but no hole in the carpet).
He also hated rear spoilers . After his passing the ethos was carried on with a lot of design stuff as Sergio Pininfarina was his friend and client .( well up to the 488 ) He didn’t want the exterior beauty corrupted with tack on rear spoilers and similarly the interior detracted by hideous ICE systems. Luca M Z obviously had different ideas in his tenure with the 355 interior regarding ICE on display and the deals with Becker .
To answer the OPs question, I think the parts to correct this issue should be findable, though you’ll likely have to retrim them. Alternatively, a good interior shop should be able to correct the cut fiberglass and go from there. It shouldn’t be a big deal either way. In the US I would budget $2k all in.
So my plan long term will be to revert back to standard. If enzo was alive or not when the spider was released the theory of hidden ice I think is the right one. With portable Bluetooth speakers now giving incredible sound ice can be portable. So far I never the radio but for longer trips it might come in handy so will look also at alternatives. My main problem is matching the carpet. If any has a set of spider door cards kicking about ( laughing face )
