well i have decided to enter my spider in a local car show..it is a pretty big show for here but never any exotics... the only class i can enter is import which is a new class for the show. its mostly old street rods and classics but a dozen or so of the local car club will enter with their hondas hyundais and the such... i hate to compete in shows but i cant do just a "display". it has to be in a class... but hey if i win its 750$

so ill probly get beat by some guy with a 2009 honda civic slammed and riced out or maybe a guy with a wrx sti right off the showroom floor who threw on a set of 22"s.

oh well i think people will like to see it anyway...

    anyone have tips for me?

The "tip" is in knowing that you have a beautiful rolling piece of art that brings you joy with a classic heritage and deep tradition. In this case pride is an acceptable 'sin'

The only tip I can give you is to have fun and be proud of your car. It is a true thoroughbred that carries with it the most prestigious history and folklore of any manufacture.

I've been beat at shows by the stuff you speak of and just chalk it up to ignorance. I don't let it get to me 'cuz at the end of the day I'm still putting a Ferrari in my garage. How many people in the world really get to do that. We are blessed to have these cars.

Enjoy the show and don't be afraid to let that starry eyed kid sit in it for a moment....that's how it all starts.:)

Sdiamond/Copterjon - Beautifully written, and I agree with every word.

Enjoy yourself, take pride in the masterpiece that you own, regardless of what place you finish....speaking of which, no matter how well you do, it will always be # 1 in your books and that is all that matters :)

i think it is cool when owners let people admire their cars...not get all crazy cuzz someone peaked in the window

Or, maybe even, the starry-eyed poor bloke.

I've never sat in (or even touched) a Ferrari before, although I did see a few on show at Knockhill a while back - including a 348 (which I posed next to for a photo).

Good luck and enjoy the show! :D

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Soon to be after medical school (I believe Andrew mentioned he has a 10-year plan), but there is no doubting that with his passion and support for the 348 he definitely fits the description for a 348 owner!!

    :D Thanks very much guys.

Yep, I'm currently doing a PhD in neuroscience. The thesis is taking a bit longer than I thought it would, but I'm getting through it. I'll be finished this year and then when I start my first job, I'll be starting the clock... I'm targeting saving up for and buying my 348 within 10 years of day one on the job. :)

    So, it'll be a while yet - but I'll get there! ;)

    All the best,
    Andrew.

I drive my Ferrari around Vegas and we get a lot of out-of-towners who have never seen one before-- and they go nuts over it.

You tend to forget that in big cities like LA or Miami where you can see them pretty much all the time. But in a huge part of the US, Ferrari's are rarely out in public.

So, my opinion is definately show it because to many attending, it may be their first experience with a Ferrari. It's time to spread the cheer!

To the OP, I live in northern Minnesota and brought my (at the time) beautiful 348ts to a local indoor car show in the summer of 2007. At the end of the day the votes were counted and the 'Best European' went to an 07 VW Golf with a carbon fiber hood and some time-attack wheels.

Technically speaking the 6 month old Golf was in better condition as it was basically brand new. I'd like to do a 'where are they now' in 17 years to see if the Golf will still be looking the caliber of my 17 year old 348 did on the day of the show. I doubt it.

I had to smile at the end of the day when I fired up the test pipe & X-OST equipped Ferrari inside the event center and a crowd gathered around with camera phones and video cameras to film the car pulling out. A number of people followed me out of the building in order to catch a vid of the 348 driving off from the parking lot.

So while the Golf owner carried the trophy, I think he knew who the real 'best European' was. :)

Thanks very much Phil, that's very kind! :D

Unfortunately, I was working offline this morning and hadn't logged in until now, so missed the available time today.

I'll have to catch you next time you're up here or I'm down there. :)

    Enjoy the Panamera S!

    All the best,
    Andrew.
