when the car is cold the first minute or so revs are 1100rpm which i guess is normal. When it warms up it is 900-1000rpm. However recently I notice even after 20 minutes driving or so that when i stop in traffic the revs are still around 1100. What should I do?

Mine recently has been doing some Ferrari weirdness as well. It would sometimes idle 1500 or so when cold and even do that on occasion when hot. I noticed it got progressively worse (more frequent) after I washed the car well and washed off the motor a little. I did what others have suggested and removed connectors to the MAFs, TPSs and other connectors that were close by and sprayed contact cleaner in both the male and female connections and followed that by a dry out with compressed air. I also did a computer reset (remove the battery and then do the idle for 10min thing). So far this appears to have fixed the problem and all is well with the idle. I may have to look into the gold connector kit thing at some point. Apparently a very small resistance (moisture or corrosion) on the connections to electrical equipment on these cars produces a large output error to the computers. I would try this first (it's free other than some contact cleaner) and see if that fixes the problem.

I think that it is far more likely a cable binding issue. In this case, think mechanical rather than electrical.
