After much research I'm now looking at a 348 spider, but am curious how painful the convertible top is to live with and operate. I'm used to an electric top in my current ride, and with the rain we get here could potentially need to cycle the top up/down a few times a day.

    Thx!

Easy and effortless. Takes me far longer to fit the boot than lower or raise the top. Nice design.

Agree with the others - top itself is dead easy, but the boot cover will take some time.

    Cheers

wow, that easy eh? Don't think I've ever seen a technical fchat thread with three responses all agreeing so readily.

Sounds like a better question is how painful the boot is to apply and remove, and is it necessary for low speed city driving (60mph and less or 40mph and less)?

    thanks!

The owner's manual says never drive the car without the boot on also it just looks a whole lot better. As far as th boot being hard to put on
it's just tight or mine is anyway.

thx - sounds like an easy task while letting the car warm up. Do you ever worry about ripping the boot while taking it off, or is the material and construction pretty solid?

I can just about feel spring around the corner with the snow melting today.

Top is very easy. Release at top of windshield, and push back on a horizontal plane. Grab handle behind back of driver's seat and pull up, and top collapses into place. Windows should be down or doors open. I push my seatbacks forward a couple notches and return them after moving top (up or down).

Boot is of good quality material, and has 10 snaps on it. The snaps are designed such that you just grab the snap itself and pull up, rather than the surrounding material. Tearing is never a worry.

Manual says don't drive the car top down without the boot in place.
