What year did they introduce the 348 spider version??
production started up early in 1993, mine's May '93 and registered as a '94. IIRC there was a March '93 reported here somewhere. I've heard there aren't any '95 Canadian production spiders - but may just be rumour.
Official launch on Rodeo Drive February 27, 1993. My understanding is the 1,090 number as well. Never seen 1,400 quoted before. Cheers Kevin
http://www.qv500.com/ferrari348p7.php = 1146 spiders http://www.***************.com/frame.php?file=car.php&carnum=2132 = 1146 hmm, maybe I'm thinking of BB512i's at 1,080? I can't find anything on an official site with a quick search.
http://www.qv500.com/ferrari348mr.php 1,090 spiders including RHD. I've seen that elsewhere as well. So somewhere around 1100 +/- shall we say? Cheers Kev
1090......1146.....1400. No one may really know huh? When all else fails, ring Michael Schumacher. Im sure he will know. Ill give him a call. But he may still be celebrating victory.
maybe give him a few months to party before he starts redecorating JT's office. wonder if MS has ever driven a 348 spider. hmm...
The reason I ask is because I live in Canada and want to import one from the US. I understand that up to 1992 (15 years old) there are no import restrictions. I was hoping that the spider would have been produced up to 1992. Can anyone shed any light on what is involved in importing newer 348? I understand the 355 is importable if converted and certified with CAN spec bumpers.. and wonder if anything applies to the 348. thanks again..J
The 348 Spider was officially unveiled for sale in February of 1993, so there is some small chance that a few 348 spiders were physically produced in 1992 (as 1993 "year" models).
Of the 1090, a total of 68 were RHD, possibly all in the UK? 1 RHD confirmed written off since, 67 maximum left.
Actually, there are 2 RHD red/tan Spiders here for sale at the moment. A 1994 and a 1995. Im assuming there are more here also.
lots of threads on this in the Canadian section. Bottom line is the 348 spider isn't importable into Canada until at least Feb 2008 (15 years, to the month for first 348 spiders). 355's are theoretically possible, but in practice is very tough (requires a Cdn dealer to suddenly find Cdn bumpers for you - and take money out of their showroom floor).
According to my records there were 68 UK-version right-hand drive. The Australian version is different (but also right-hand drive) and not counted in that total. Original UK cars have a 'C' as the eighth character of the VIN, Australian/New Zealand cars have a 'D'. Of course, there may be some ex-Aussie cars in the UK and some ex-UK cars in Oz as there are with other models. Jonathan
Thats exactly correct. My 348TB is a UK car here in Aus. There would alot of cars like that here. I dont know the VIN of the Spiders here for sale, but they could be Aus delievered or UK import.
Many of those American 348 Spyders are driven all year round. Must be some nice Canadian spyders available that have hibernated half the year... horse fan
