I have a 1990 348ts. Sometimes it will stall the 1st time I start it. After the 2nd try - it's fine. is this normal?

My 1990 348ts starts instantly without touching the gas pedal and without stalling.

Sorry to ask this again, I'm not trying to be a snot. But did you get your car "re-initialized" after the battery / alternator incident? If you did, are you sure that you DID NOT touch the gas pedal when you did the procedure? That is part of the process. If you push the gas pedal, it can enter some false readings into the base parameters. So -

    1) Unhook the battery for a few minutes, then reattach the cables.
    2) Start the car WITHOUT TOUCHING THE GAS PEDAL.
    3) Let it idle for about 15 minutes.
    4) Shut the engine off, then restart.

There is a good chance that it won't stall on starts any more. Hope everything works out OK!

I wouldn't worry about it yet, since it starts on the 2nd try.

The cold start valve may be heading south.

    Hi Jeff,

You're not being a snob. I did discount the battery, then I let it run for about 15 minutes - without touching the gas pedal. Should I have the battery disconnected for any specific amount of time?
