Last summer I experienced this problem, then went away over the winter when stored, however, a friend of mine now has the same problem with his 94 348 spider.

Car starts fine, drives about 15 mins, then when coming to a stop, revs drop like half the engine is working and quickly stalls. After about 10 mins (sometime longer depending on how hot the engine is), it restarts (not easily) and drives for another 10 mins.

Any ideas - tried looking for a thread on this but couldn't locate anything.

    Thanks!

Any "Check Engine" lights coming on?

Any "Slow Down" lights coming on?

Has the battery been disconnected or run down dead? May just need to re-initialize.

I'll admit I am obsessed with crank sensors at the moment, but our Mondial t was doing something very similar. It would run fine and then it would barely idle and quit if I didn't keep hitting the throttle. The restart was shaky but it would light. After a cool down it was fine for 10-15 minutes as you said. I did however get both check engine lights off and on.

I discovered the wire insulation was gone from the bottom crank sensor. That one I believe is used by both banks to determine the idle speed.

Got me a couple of Kia Crank Sensors (and two o2 sensors) and all is well. I did have the battery switched off while we did the installation so who knows what really fixed it.

The cheap (free!) first test is to open both idle air bypasses by half a turn. That might raise your idle a little, but see if she still stalls when hot under the same conditions as before.

If not, clean your throttle bodies and bypasses!

Yes - battery was replaced - went dead - no lights on except battery light comes on from time to time.

    How do you re-initialize it?

    Thanks,

    Ilio

Thanks - will try that if there is nothing obvious with the wiring.

    To re-initialize:

    1) Shut off the battery for a few minutes, then turn the power back on.

    2) Start the engine and let it idle. Don't touch the gas pedal during this step, don't rev the engine at all.

    3) After about 10 minutes, shut off the engine, then restart normally.

    4) Test drive it and see if that helped!
