This is quite interesting, and for now will stay focused on the "starter" issue.

Backround : Have successfully installed an electromotive Tech Gt engine management system into a supposedly track only 348. Car was originally twin turbo'd by Norwood I believe. Guy in the area bought it after being repossed, all of the engine management system stolen / removed with a machetti. Huge story here for another time. Wiring harnes work I did is meticulous, factory quality. Engine started first time. Then slowly became difficult to start. RED-GREEN led's stayed green. Switched to a Hall sensor for crank, unit sent back and forth to Electromotive. PIC coding updated, still, Electromotive uses a unique coding to sense cranking under 300 rpm. Whenever I could get it started with 50 amp jump, ran fine, never faltered. Starter contacts replaced, Ground to chassis switch removed, all combinations of energizing starter have been tried. Still green only led's.

This led to resesarch on the starters and Oscilliscope traces on the crank pick up. Starter research on 348's -360's revealed some interesting findings.

Interesting reading, replaced starter....all is fine in above link for the 360.

Now for this 348 Tech GT car, I hired an electronics guy to come scope trace the hall crank signal during cranking. Good battery on its own and also with 50 amp jump.

Crank sensor is fine.............. engine rpm during cranking 260 -280, Buuuuuuuut trace showed rpm falling to almost 50 approaching compression stroke. Hmmm, do not have a healthy car to compare with. Sure "sounds" fine during cranking. But proof is in the traces of maybe a problem. Should the Electromotive unit deal with this? Not sure, sending data to Uwe at Electromotive.

Now question for F Chat guys i sthis....... There is a co in the UK selling WOSP (?) gear reduction Denso starters for teh 348 claiming it is a 2.0 kw unit. "2-3 times more powerful than stock" I would believe overe the hige older F car slow starters, but the 348 has a Denso unit, not sure what kw.

So does anyone know teh power odf teh stock unit? Anyone tried these UK WOSP starters? Is there a starter hot rod shop that can upgrade the stock unit? Input/suggestions ? Quite frustrating considering the initial tuning / running settings allow the engine to run quite well according to wideband sensor and actually driving it!

Oh and for sure this whole install story is gonna be great article material............

    Thanks in advance.

Oh and might add, cranking engine with spark plugs removed, ignition leads off coils, produced the required RED-GREEN led show on the ECU indicating it is getting good RPM and position sensing to start.

When I have green-red she starts every time ...............

I don't specifically know the answer to your questions about starter rpm but here is another starter alternative which claims to be gear reduction and faster than the stock unit: 348

If it seems interesting then call them and ask for the details.
