....sorry found that I hadn't disconnected the linkage completely........
I am going to post pic of the condition of the rear bearing for my drive pulley. The bearing was completely gone....this car has only 16k miles on it - probably a good thing too. It is immaculate in physical appearance, but no real maintenance done beyond fluids...just what all the experienced people on this site told me to watch out for when purchasing a 348. Oh, well, I enjoy working on the car anyways...

Good luck with the project... glad apparently nothing apparently blew up before you got to the serious maintenance! Everyone here would like to see you post some pics.

Sorry to butt in Mark - I read the original post where Mark found a lot of play in the drive pulley. Turned out to be the inner bearing (behind the front cover) that will need to be replaced.

Mark - I think you need to find out the 'WHY' of that bearing going bad. I have never read of this happening on a 348 before (especially with just 16k). Your timing chain and all associated components might be the culprits. You are aware of the timing chain TSB from Ferrari on upgrading this right?

    ...Hi Troy.....

Yep, I am aware of the updates which includes a better rear bearing. I think the bad front bearing likely contributed to the rear bearing as well....the front bearing was more than just a little bad.....everything else appears ok other than the needed updates..chain tenshioners, bearing.....
