Not much out there on this, so here are some pictures and clips. This is the Superformance 348 exhaust with their Test Pipes. My brother took some video after leaving dinner on a cold day. I did not step on it much since the oil was cold and car not up to temp, but it gives you a good idea of the sound. In my opinion it sounds even better as you get higher in the revs. The tips fill up the notches better than stock; also are centered better and stick out just enough to look proper. I have this exact setup yet to be installed. I’m in the middle of a full engine out and could use a nice video of your car in the high rev range to boost my motivation to finish her up.
It seems all those setups (Capristo too) tend to sounds boatish, more throaty like a mopar, less high pitchy especially at lower rpm's, or even when you stab the gas pedal out of gear. People tend to really like that. I suspect it is the test pipes as I seem to recall the set up is less throaty with cats in, I think I recall. Same exhaust different sounds. You have options glad you got one that works for you.
Still very pleased with my purchase. I run the car without the heat shields. It makes no difference in temperature, measured at (on) the air filter box. My car was equipped with dual mufflers. The only downside, and this is regardless of muffler you choose, is the exhaust smell from the lack of cats. But, for me the sound without the cats, and lack of any potential thermocouple control issues is worth it. There is another video of my car on the dyno with this set up which will give you another impression of the sound. Just search “348 dyno” on this forum and you should find it.
Thanks for the feedback. Sounds nice on the rollers but I was hoping for something a little more visceral. Shall hunt out some Tubi recordings. There is a YouTube clip I think from road and track of a car in some woods that sounds superb. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
There is only 1. Non F1 (first one and best sounding 348 system) and F1 versions, to each their own. Sent using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Everything else sort of sounds like a motorboat to me. Especially when they're idling. One in particular about mentions horrid. But different people like different sounds so everybody's got their own subjective opinion on what sounds good. I think boomers prefer the deeper mopar rumble. That would be awesome, nothing wrong with Mopars, just don't make the Spider sound like the the Mopar.
I know this is an old thread but I thought I would post in case anyone is thinking of getting a Superperformance sports silencer, I have just got one and fitted it myself, Not a bad job once you have the two heat shields removed, I unbolted the rear bumper and just pulled it out a couple of inches which allowed the original silencer to come out through the bottom of the car. All in all it took me about an hour and three quarters from start to finish, There is a huge weight difference between the original and the Superperformace one. I am running sports catalytic converters on my car too. Anyhow I made a short video which Superperformance have now put on their facebook page. Just go to their site and click on the facebook link which will bring the video up.
