reading matteo s thread made me think of a question regarding my 348.
i am 6'4 and when i store my top behind the seats i have to move my seat closer to the dash which leaves me not enough room to drive, very uncomfortable!!! is there an after market top like a canvas that would mount where the targa goes. you could put it in the trunk and if it rains pop it on and continue driving. i saw a top like this on an episode of magnum pi, but know if its possible on a 348 .

6' 4", ygtbsm!!. I'm a whopping 5' 10" and I hate having the top behind the seats for the same reason. I'm going to have to reassess my pain threshold.

Do a search - I swear I remember seeing or reading about a canvas top for the 348 ts.

Though I've never seen one in person, it exists and it's come up on the board before, and I believe the same part was available for both the 348 and 355. Perhaps a search under both 348 and 355 might bring up some leads. I seem to remember someone posting a picture of the top mounted on their car.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I can remember I don't think they're available any longer from dealers, so it might be tricky coming upon one.

I think I had a part number for it in the 355 parts manual, I'll see if I can dig that up for you.

[edit: hmm, a bit late on the response i guess. there you go]

There was an original folding top on eBay about 6 weeks ago. I ended up in a bidding war over it, and backed away. My plan (I'll just be honest here), was to buy it and send it overseas for reverse engineering/remanufacturing. No such luck -- it got too rich for my blood.

John - you can make a great compact top , better than orig hardtop- no leaks , by getting the heaviest trash bag home depot sells, and a roll of duct tape.

Why don't you guys just have one made? I know a guy here in Greenville that does custom work like this for my vintage Land Rovers...He can make anything for auto interiors or tops etc. I have never seen one of these in person, but it should not be too hard to fab.... Or you can simply do what I did and buy a Spider, although with the top down you have a similar problem...

    Hi Ski Guy,
Can you let me know the number for this guy who fabricates. Will ask him if a panoramic top is possible for the car
