Which is better the TB or the TS. Anyone know how many cars where shipped to canada?
its akin to a chick asking if open ended stilts/shoes are better than a close ended one..... one covers her toes but she won't want it she has bad nails....however those air the feet....the closed ended shoes gives her better protection and guards her toes if she goes and bangs her feet somewhere but there isn't much ventilation and she wouldn't be able to show her beautifully done nails if she had them... wanted to give u a slightly different analogy...i'm sure the rest will chime in with the rest ;-)
If you have the TS roof panel filled and colour coded to the car then with the roof on it looks pretty much exactly like the TB, and even better than the TB with the roof off! I have to say that driving an open top Ferrari with the roof off and windows down makes every journey even more special! (But then again, owning a TS I am biased in that opinion! )
I have had every version of the 348 and I can tell you either get the TB or the Spider...The TS is a compromise of both
I'm aiming for a 1989-1992 348tb in Giallo, Rosso Corsa, Blu Sera Metallizzato, Grigio Metallizzato, or Nero. Which one is my favourite depends on my mood, but often it's Giallo. Not sure there were many TBs made in that color though... All the best, Andrew.
My TS is a great compromise which is fun in warmer weather with the Targa top removed. If I wanted to track the TB would have been my choice for purchase. Race or cruise?
Interested to hear more coming from someone who's owned all 3. I am considering a 348 and was keen on a TS because I like in a sunny climate and enjoy the odd freeway drive. I feel that a TS would offer a full-convertible feel (because the structure is behind you, so all your eyes see is blue sky) but with less wind and buffeting on the freeway. Is it not like that? Plus I like the look of the flying buttresses.
Ive owned an MR2 ttop, thats the closest ive experienced to a TS. Does not feel like a convertible because you see the back window in your rear view not to mention the b pillars. Ive owned several convetibles including a boxster, E30's etc. The feeling you get from a convertible is freedom and wide open. The closest feel to riding a motorcycle without a helmet. Two completley different feelings.
I can't say that the back window or b pillars being in the rear view has ever been an issue for Me whilst driving My TS. In the TS you're still driving in the open air enough to add a little something extra to the special feeling of driving a Ferrari - Something extra that you're never going to get in a TB. The first time I drove My TS 130 miles to visit My friends on a hot and sunny summers day, roof off and windows down, I ended up with a quite considerable sun tan on My face. arms and thighs (part of the joys of driving in shorts!). That told Me that the TS without a roof on is pretty much out in the open. I love driving My car with the roof off! Day time; night time; sunny day; cloudy day, whenever! On the very rare occasions when I have driven My car with the roof panel on, it actually seemed quite dark and claustrophobic inside the cabin to Me!
Fully agree with all Phil's comments. It's a great opportunity to have the best of both worlds and with the top on is exactly the same as the tb. Love driving it with the top off on a warm summer night. Don't let it be a deal breaker when looking for a 348 and in my opinion as an owner I'm really happy I got it. Good luck.

This. Targas are my favorite form of convertible. Some "privacy", less buffeting, lots of engine music.
I owned a 964 C2 Targa. On quick blasts on sunny days I wished it were a full convertible so I'd get more raw wind exposure, and hence more sensations. Whereas on long drives, at higher speeds, it was lovely having less buffeting in what still felt much like a full cabrio.

tb looks better I think, depend how much the removable roof means to you. I know with 328's the GTB drives better.

Your not wrong, with a colour coded roof it looks pretty much the same as a tb but without the roof I just don't like the look. Each to their own.
The TS looks different IMO. Always liked the Coupe. If I stand corrected the targa style roof was because of the dangers of convertibles and reflected that era. Convertibles started coming out again later.
I like both, but after owning a Berlinetta and having a GTS in the same garage, I'll never go back to a targa. The Berlinetta to me is more special. I'm always grabbing that set of keys. I'd base it off your climate and weather you most see where you live. Robb
