Am looking to test drive 2 - 348's this coming Monday in the Derbyshire area. Before i take to the roads etc and with the help of David Kopke's advice (many thanks again), i was wanting to know if i were to publish the details of each 348, would anyone within the UK be able to let me know any history for either vehicle ? Long call but one i felt had to ask.

I am trying my best, taking cam-corder along with digi cam for pics. Got a printout sent to me by David Kopke for things to check with buyers guide. So here goes. One thing though, from experience do you class your 348 as an every day car ? I need to toy with the idea of getting a 2nd run-around or just plough the extra money into a better 348. All these questions and more lol.

Having looked through page after page on autotrader etc, my absolute fav is the new 348 in stock with Nick Cartwright. I was fortunate to spend a couple of hours with him last week, where he was kind enough to take me to his lock up of various red machines, including a F50 !!!! The guy is the genuine article as is his son Ben. If i were to post further info, do you think anyone on here could help. i.e. previous user/raced or not etc etc.

Hi Chris - the 348 "could" be an every day car, but you and the car would be a lot happier if you had a 2nd car. I keep an old Honda for the rainy days and high-risk parking trips.

Heck, Forza had an article last year of a 250GTO used as an everyday car in Italy.

I probably use my 348 80% of the time in the summer, and down to 5% in the depths of winter.

    Hi Chris,

Yes, you can use a 348 every day the more you use them the better it will run!

The ad said that its a tb but the badge says its a GTB which is the better model, I would need the vin number to know for sure which model it really is.

I think Chaa who posts on here knows the owner of Benz - Baverian who have it for sale, so he might be able to get a bit more information on it for you?

Let me know if I can help.

    Regards,
    Phil.

Don't want to put you off but IMO a Ferrari is not an everyday car. It's too special to do that to especially in British weather. Keep it for weekends and special occasions, that way you will enjoy it to the maximum and look forward to driving it. It won't be just a daily drive. You really need to put maximum effort and concentration into a 348 and I just don't think it's the right car for the daily grind.

Get yourself a cheap runaround. Think this to yourself, can you imagine parking it and leaving it in a supermarket car park? I have trouble just leaving mine at a quiet local pub let alone anywhere else!! ;)

Yes, I would agree with that.Because I don't use the 348 every day, when I do use it, it's treat and not a chore.

Have to admit, that part of the advert did intrigue me as well as being described as tb when its clearly badged as gtb. Test drive will surely tell all.

Perhaps i didn't explain my daily use clearly, after re-reading my post i think i should explain further. I live in Derby but work in Cheltenham, working a 4 day shift pattern. This means driving from Derby to Cheltenham, working there for 4 days, returning to Derby for a further period of 4 days off. My only major concern is using the 348 as a get me there and get me back car, in style... obviously :) I currently own the new style SLK and although its a superb drive, i was just contemplating the reality of using a 348 in the same way. Perhaps we are talking about 500 miles a month, most months heavily reduced during the winter.

Any suggestions ? Do you think i am being unrealistic ? I purely want to own the car to drive it and enjoy it, i would hate to think of it being stuck in the garage for weeks one end. Ferraris are in my opinion bought to be driven and enjoyed ??

    Many thanks

    Chris

I think I saw that up for sale last year at another garage in the Midlands. I remember the painted colour-coded rear grill, which to me looks horrible.

Can't recall the price or anything else. Sorry.

    What's the mileage on it?

500 miles a month is not unrealistic Chris. Drive the car and enjoy it mate. Dont let it be a garage queen. These cars are meant to be driven alright. :)

    Hi Chris,

I bought my 348 from Nick early last year. He may be a little more expensive than some, but the quality and reliability of the car (the one I bought anyway) has been second to none.

Top guys who know their stuff.

If I can help any more, let me know - good luck with your search.

    Hi Chris,

Like you I work away all week so I do Pelsall to Swindon (100 miles) every Monday and return on Friday, normally this is in my company car but I sometimes use my 348 Spider without having any problems. The last time I used the car for work also involved 3 visits in that week to our labs in Hemel with the car filled with paint samples, this is a round trip of 176 miles around the M4 & the M25 without missing a beat.

In May 2005 I drove to Monte Carlo and then into Italy, in the 3 weeks there I drove around 7000 Km (4,349 miles) all without the car having any problems, the total mileage that summer was around 7,500 miles. So like Pap said just drive it!!

One more point Yes, I do leave it in the supermarket car park!!!

    Regards,
    Phil.
