I'm looking to replace the cats with test pipes. My local custom exhaust fabricator said no problem. He asked if I can get the flange for the front connection and also the bung for the temp sensor, the O2 is no problem. I can't seem to find info on the size of either. Anybody have a lead on where to get them or have the dimensions?

Try old small block ford 265-289 header flanges. I think they are the same

I have a new set of Tubi test pipes and a pair of old gutted OEM cats in the garage. I can give you all of the measurements you'll need. But I won't be able to get them until tomorrow night at the earliest.

My guess is he can have them made for about $200. While I recently bought genuine new Tubi pipes for $400.

I'd sell them for $200 , in the end he will have something nicer and not cobbled together. Plus they are stainless and have the correct thermocouple bungs .

Superformance UK has them for pretty cheap if the local ones fall through.

@wade - Good estimate, fab guy said $150 for a set but I need the flanges and temp sensor bungs so ~200.
He has done a lot of custom pipes for my family's collection of Italian cars, Maserati 3500, Fiat Dino, multiple GTV-6's, even a temporary system for a Daytona with red cherry bombs that sounded awesome. He likes a creative challenge once in a while, compared to hanging pre-bent systems. Here in Ohio it mostly custom muscle car stuff though.

@driveitdaily - I'll take you up on the offer for $200. The superrformance price is the lowest I've seen, $250 US plus shipping. I missed that in my search. The others I found were $495, $650, and $727.
Anybody have any experience with the superformance exhaust? Also not a bad price.

Fabricator also said he can make a full system with a MagnaFlow 2 in 2 out for ~$500 but I have no idea how it would sound.

Pm sent . The pipes have an angle at the end which imho would be hard to get right , you'll be happier just buying mine and just bolting them in . I did have the superformance exhaust , it is a nouvalari with out the name on it , it sounds amazing , to my ears it sounds exactly the same as a tubi , you won't be disappointed , I did run it with high flow cats . The factory exhaust is quite pleasing when run without the cats

Maybe buy the set from John (driveitdaily) and loan them to your fab guy for reproduction? If he really wants the challenge that is. But honestly, I wonder if there's really a market for straight pipes, other than here or theres...

    You will love the sound.

Ditch the stock exhaust for a good single can.

I am running test pipes and the Nouvolari Suoer Sport exhaust.

I would totally take him up on this. I've had Magnaflow on a couple of my cars, and they never fail to please. It's a well-built muffler with a straight-thru perforated core. I've kicked around the idea to have a Magnaflow system made up for my 348, Stooge Style, but don't have anyone around here that I trust to do it right.
