    I think I have found a German source for the 348/Mondial T thermostat. I will know this coming Saturday.

    I put the info and pics in the 348 parts interchange sticky on the 348 thread. I think it is good info. I look forward to comments and whether it is available under the VW or other part numbers.

    I know its old but I'm replacing my Thermostat for good measure, I am using the OEM one and seal from Ricambi. I didn't quite understand this thread after the actual install which I appreciate. Thanks Ernie was not sure it was accessible. What I was not clear on was the quest for an alternative thermostat. The OEM thermostat and seal is reasonably priced, fits, is spec, avoids a ton of hassle. Was the OEM thermostat not available or super expensive a few years ago or does it not work at optimal temps perhaps? Need a warmer one maybe? I assume it was not cost but I did not pick u the rationale for an alternative solution is all. Thanks.
