I noticed the water temp of my 348TS was only a bit over 60°C on my latest drive I searched the forum and found Vernet (Calorific) TH7020.82 was a good replacement and available for €25 delivered Not working today so I decided to do the job As suggested by Ernie I removed the roof and engine cover and did the job standing behind the back seats Took me a good 2 hours, the bolts are not so accessable I put both thermostats in boiling water and let it cool down measuring the water temp The Vernet one was fully closed at 80°C The OEM was still a bit open at 60°C, so consistent with the temp maesured in the car Vernet also has a bigger opening dia and stroke Only had to make a 3mm hole

Temp under normal driving conditions is now close to 90°C The DIY can be found under '348 thermostat removal' by ernie posted in 2012
The housing has a bigger dia where the thermostat sits The rubber ring (NOT an O-ring) must fit in there. If not you will damage it when you fasten the top part (the one on the left of the 2 thermostat in my foto) Don't ask me how I know...
