Made it home for the holidays and finally replacing a broken accel cable (Thanks Ricambi America!). Got the cable out fine (it snapped) but the sheath won't budge. It goes through a metal guide tube from engine bay to gas pedal. This guide tube doesn't appear in the parts manual and I am wondering if the tube is really continuous and straight as it appears does if it makes any wild turns under the carpet or any breaks (open gaps) in the tube somewhere? I don't want to just pull and break the sheath half-way in the tube so I am open to suggestions.

    Happy holidays to all.

You can see the tube with the cable running through it (but not the sheath) up by the pedal. If you pull up the carpet just a bit directly behind the back of the center console, you can see the tube, welded in place. So I don't think you would be able to see anything from under the car. If you pull the cover panel off the right side Motronic ECU and look under the carpet/padding, you can see where the tube goes into the firewall and out of sight. No gaps. If you look in the engine compartment, you can see where the sheath runs into the tube, but you don't get any idea of how long the sheath may be or how it is attached in the tube. It might be possible that something else is visible if you pull the carpet/panel off on the shelf below the rear window, but that doesn't look like fun.

How long is the sheath on the new cable?

Greetings. That pretty much describes what I see. The sheath runs the entire length of the cable inside the guide tube minus the exposed part near the gas pedal.
