Hi everyone, I haven't used my 1994 348 Spider for a few months and when I did take it out this week for a spin I noticed the throttle sticking a little. It was noticable when I was accelerating - I dip the clutch to change gear and it revs very high for a second or two before calming back down. It seems like the throttle cable may be a bit sticky and slow to spring back down. Could anyone give me a clue where to look? I checked the carpet overmat wasn't pressing on the accelerator pedal (happened to me before in a hired 348) and the linkage on top of the engine appears to be well greased. Any tips to cure this would be very welcome. Thanks in advance! Justyn 1994 348 Spider, Rosso Corsa, Crema Hide.
Your first post? Welcome to the group! See if you can narrow it down a bit. First I'd try just leaning down and operating the throttle pedal by hand, to see if there is any obvious "stiction" in the pedal area. It's possible that something has dropped down inside the box around the base of the pedal. In back, you can operate the linkage by hand and check that nothing is dragging. You might notice that the little clips in the linkage ends come really close to the breather pipes, and might be hitting under full or partial throttle. Make sure you don't knock the cable out of its guide by accident. It's possible that your cable is fraying and will need to be replaced, but you might find a simple problem with some careful examination. Good luck, and report back.
Jeff, thanks for your reply and warm welcome. I'm not actually new here, I used to use the site a lot some time ago but forgot my username etc (justynb I think) I will try your suggestions today and see if I can get to the bottom of it. Justyn.
