Hi my throttle pedal feels really sensitive, takes quite a lot of effort not to over rev when setting off, does anyone know if the response can be adjusted?

Hi, when I had my 348 I had exactly the same issue. There is a number of pivot points and ball connectors for the throttle cable in the drivers footwell. On mine, all connectors and the pedal pivot were full of crud and needed cleaning and re-greasing. After the work, all smooth again. Took me 2 hours.

I wouldn’t say my throttle pedal is stiff, opposite really sensitive. I spoke to main dealer mechanic and he seems to think there was an update to the throttle body quadrant for early 348’s anyone heard of this?

    I would first:

    1) Check to make sure that the throttle stops are adjusted correctly. If they are too loose the throttle plate can get stuck. What happens is the throttle plate is stopped by the inside wall of the throttle body instead of the throttle stop. Because of this more force is needed to get it unstuck when pressing on the accelerator. Also, as the engine heats up the metal expands making the throttle modulation, from completely closed to open, even worse because of heat swelling. You'll see the throttle stop on the bottom of the TB. You do not want any gap when the TB is closed. If it needs adjusting turn the screw until it just touches the throttle stop, then test the throttle. Adjust it JUST ENOUGH to stop the throttle plate from sticking against the inner wall of the TB. You may also need to adjust the bleed screws to get the idle right after adjusting the stop/s.

    Then:

    2) Make sure the cable it not caught on something (like hung up on under the plenum on a wire or, or that the cable sheath hasn't been worn through)
    3) Make sure the peddle isn't hung up on something (like dragging against the floor mat which could have been pushed forward, AKA the "cruise control" LOL)
    4) Make sure all the linkage is clean, lubed properly, and both sides opening/closing simultaneously.
    5) Make sure the throttle bodies are clean

Check that the throttle body return springs are hooked-up correctly and that they are not broken.

Thanks for the info, today I cleaned up the pedal mechanism and took out some slack in the cable. The throttle body end looks ok. How do you synchronise the two throttle bodies so I can check they are opening at exactly the same time?

    I did mine by sight.
The proper way to balance the throttles, and the idle, is using a manometer. If you don't feel like buying one there are plenty of instructions the internet on how to build a homemade manometer.
