Your car will sound like an F1 racecar with that setup. :)

I myself have kept an Ebay favorite search going for both used 348 Tubi and Hyper-Flow cats. Over the last 6 months, I've seen nothing!

Used is the way to go--you'll save $$$, but unfortunately there's not a lot out there.

Before I resorted to paying full price on a new Tubi this summer, I even searched through classified advertisements of 348s for sale that had Tubi exhausts on them. I called the sellers up and asked them if they'd like to make some money back by putting the stock muffler back on the car and selling me the Tubi. To my surprise, every single one of them was absolutely unwilling to do it! So instead of making about $1500-$1900 back, they ate the loss. You might try this for yourself--maybe you'll have luck.

i think about doing this too from time to time but am little hesitant since i use my 348 as daily driver 9 months/yr.
im relatively happy with stock sound since its radical enuf at open throttle then quiet at low revs so i can take a passenger, listen to radio, not wake up neighbors, etc.
    whats your opinions re above.

Pardon my naive question. But a 348 Spider with Tubi and hyperflow; Will it still pass smog checks in California?

IMO, it would have no less chance of passing than the stock cats + silencer set-up.

Kevin who posted a few posts earlier got that setup for just this reason - To pass smog in CA. I don't think he had any problems.

    It does sound great also.

Yep, Jerry's correct. Passes California smog with flying colors. My 348 had punched OEM cats when I got it so needed new converters anyway.

If you didn't want to do the leg work to this used...how much would this cost new?

    New 348 Tubi = $3200

    New Hyper-Flow cats for 348 = $780 per cat

Heiko at HG Parts will sell you the Tubi for less than that... and I paid less than retail for my Hyperflows as well. Happy to share my numbers by PM - obviously your mileage may vary esp with HG as he is in Germany.

    Cheers

Hey Kevin, those are the retail numbers... but they aren't necessarily what I paid!

I didn't go with the Hyper-Flow cats--I went with test pipes, which cost me about $300. Saved over $1000 doing that.

Just wanted folks to know that suggested retail ain't the going street price!!

I actually got a set of test pipes as well - ordered before my car arrived in California. I had to get new cats in order to pass smog, so the issue for me was OEM or something aftermarket. I'm happy with the Hyper-flows and I don't have to worry about smog, check engine lights, etc. Plus my exhaust doesn't stink like fuel any more!!

    Cheers
