For those of you that have lightened their 348...what components did you remove or modify, and what were the resulting weight savings?

    Thanks in advance,
    James

    Bump! 14 years later....just curious...
Coming from a ‘90 964, I was dissapointed driving a 348. It was lump. Although searching for a 355, I feel sorry for the 348.
It is a very beautiful car, but the weight is imho it’s biggest problem.
A fitness programme would certainly improve almost everything...

This has been discussed many times. Here is the easy list: Seats are about 45 lbs each, change to carbon fiber seats. Wheels are about 28 lbs each, change to magnesium wheels. Titanium wheel bolts. Change the battery to a racing light weight battery. Remove the front bonnet liner.

Here is the difficult list: Have front and rear carbon fiber bumper covers made. Remove the interior carpets and insulation. Plexiglass rear window. Do you want loud race car? Remove the exhaust and add straight pipes with X over. Remove the AC system.

Finally, are you sure the motor is running properly? Have you removed and cleaned the fuel injectors and the fuel pumps?

A proper running 348 will not feel like a lump if you keep the RPMs high.

    Good luck

Remove the luxury items. They add the most weight. It's a compromise.
