What have folks here done to increase HP? Exhaust is a given but is anyone reaching over 350HP?

The 348 is top choice for my F car purchase in 07

I believe he gave the impression that it was "400+" without the nitrous.

Since the 348 engine is the *larger* displacement version of the 288 GTO supercar motor, we've got a long way that we can bump up these engines.

We've got better engine computers and more displacement, after all.

    Life is good!

I have only bolted on a XOST and made 18.8HP extra at the wheels. Say I have around 318HP at the flywheel or close to. Performance manifolds and high flow cats will take it near 330HP I reckon. I am looking into a K&N air filter soon also. Will see if that really gives a HP increase also. :):)

I'm going to Dyno my car tomorrow. Am very curious as to what additional HP I've picked up with:

    Tubi Exhaust
    Hyper-Flo Test Pipes
    K&N Air Filter

    All on my 1990 348TS

    Any guesses?

If you don't have a baseline dyno run, you will really never know. Every brand rear wheel dyno produces different results, some high, some low and there are variations dyno to dyno. IMO dynojet has set the standard for comparable results, they are very consistent dyno to dyno so if you go to a dynojet, you could hunt up results from a another car that is known to be stock and in good running condition and get a general idea of what you might have gained. At this point, that's about as close as you can get to knowing if it was money well spent. I'd guess in the 10-20hp range.

OH NOOOO, more speculatory mumbo jumbo. Did you already baseline your car before you made these changes? First, you should only make one change at a time, dyno testing before each additional change, to see what yields the best results. Second, what is the condition of your engine? Cylinder leakdown test, compression test, fresh plugs?, Ohm check each wire, oil weight and condition?, just for starters...so I won't even guess, 'cause you have too undefined variables.

Sorry about the limited data initially.

Car had second 30k service less than a year ago. Fresh everything including all upgrades where applicable. Had a bearing spin apart but caught it in time before any serious damage. Fresh plugs, 10w-50 Mobile1, new kevlar clutch. Car has 36k in mileage. Not being bias but I would give the car a 9.5 out of 10 for cosmetics and engine. Does that help?

Did you run it on a dyno before the mods? As was stated, without a baseline to compare to, it's all speculation......

Many many factors to take into account of course. My latest Dyno run, I did a before and after on the day. Because the weather can affect the results also.
My stock results before Xmas 06 were 5HP down, from when I did a Dyno run back in March 06. Was a cooler day back in March. We made 241HP stock at the wheels in March and made 236HP stock at the wheels in December06. Was ALOT cooler in March. So before and after on the same day is crucial. Dyno car, then do mods, one at a time then Dyno again. Repeat process and you will see how many HP you actually gain from each mod.
But off the top of my head, I reckon you would make around 25HP at the wheels over a stock 348. I made 18.8HP at the wheels with just a XOST and I am sure Tubi would be very similar. I would also like to see results anyways. :)

Here are my 2 different Dyno sessions. Dyno Dynamics chassis Dyno. :)
