Hey guys, I searched but could not find anything and wanted to post a message as I am worried. Just got back from a drive in the 348. Pulled into my driveway and as I am going in to the garage the car starts to lose power. The headlights get darker, dash gets darks. Car starts to lose power. Both Check Engine lights come on and car starts to stutter. I rev it to keep the car alive. The speedometer goes from 0 all the way to the 160 and the car dies. The car will not start now. Is this the battery? It's 1:33AM and I am worried. What the hell could this be? Thanks.

When you say the car will not start, I assume you mean that the starter will not crank the engine over, correct? I would guess that your alternator pooped out, did you have any warning lights on during the last stages of your drive?

The Check Engine lights came on as I was luckily pulling into my garage. Then the car died.

If you have an early 348, look at the back of the engine bay under the air box. If you have the bullet style connector, going from the starter to the battery, it could have come loose.

Next you will want to pull the engine codes.

Last, You weren't out of gas were you?

hook it up to a charger for a while , and see how it runs . it sounds like alternator or battery .

Don't think it can be the alternator. Once the power's zapped, the car shouldn't start.

Another likely suspect would be the main positive and negative cables. If they have a little corrosion on either end, they may be getting resistance when they get warmer. Clean them (wire brush) and make sure the connections are tight.

its most likely a generic car problem ... check the batrteryt as said , then alternator and connections.
