Every now and then when i start the car i'll get this window haze on the inside of the windshield on the driver side. its not moisture and its hard as hell to get to come off. i use water and then dry it. it eventually comes back. any thoughts?

I haven't noticed this so much on the inside of the windscreen, but my rear window always seems to have some kind of a haze on it that keeps coming back. Don't know the cause, I just keep cleaning it off. I don't use any kind of Armorall products or anything like that.

Could it be some Freon leaking from the A/C system and floating up through the defrost vents? When my system was leaking I would get this strange haze that took a little work to get off the glass.

I would have the A/C system checked the next time you have it in for service. I also used to notice a hissing sound when the A/C was running which I think was air in the system (replacing the leaking refrigerant).
If you have R134a, you can buy a recharge kit with a little gauge to tell you if your system pressure is low.
I'm not sure if they are availalb efor R12.

before you go spending a fortune on looking for a complex mechanical explaination... consider this...
do you treat your leather? If so, the moisture in the chemicals is constantly evaporating out of the leather, hence the need to treat it again!
That chemical leaves a residue on the inside of your windows. The amount of evaporation is directly related to weather conditions, humidity, etc.

Try leaving your windows cracked about an inch when you leave it parked in your garage.

I'm getting something similar, but only because I have an 8" crack in the windscreen.

+1. The reason you only see it in one area is that the angle of reflected light must be just-right to visualize it. This is a very common occurrence in "show cars" interiors that have been extensively treated with protectorates (especially silicone-based). Put some isopropyl alcohol on a cloth and rub vigorously. Repeat this several times, then polish. It will probably go away.

Right above the instrument binacle where it is the closest to the windshield, Only and Saw have it right.

It got quite annoying in my GTB after the new interior went in. Always leave the windows cracked 1" when parked.

Using leather for a dashboard material ranks quite high on the all time DS design list. I have been doing recovers using the new vinyl's where one could not tell the difference from leather and be done with the shrinkage headache.
