    Keep noticing that the model nos on the 355 normally says, F 355. Does this also pertain to the 348, whats the significance?

    I think the F355 is the paddle shift F1 gearbox. The 348's never had that, so they remain 348's. Same goes for the F360, F430 ect.... im sure. :)

    All manual 355s are called F355, the autos are called 355F1s arnt they.

    yes this is correct all 355's are F355's

    you have
    F355 Berlinetta (coupe)
    F355 GTS (traga)
    and
    F355 Spiders

    and any combo can be a F355 F1.

    I read the explanation somewhere but cannot find the source at the moment. It went:

    The F355 was introduced - before the F1 option.

    When the F1 option became available, the model changed to 355 to allow for a 355 F1.
    They say it just didn't sound right to have an F355 F1 (too many Fs)

    It seems they retained the F355 for manual cars.

    The 'F' just stands for Ferrari.
