My (newly acquired) 348 TS has this block of grey foam rubber that sits below the shift gate.

The shift lever passes through this rather agricultural looking piece of rubber...yet this block of foam does not appear on any 348 part diagram I can find. Any indeas on whether this should there, or why past owners may have stuck it there?

    Thanks

I believe the purpose of this is to keep the dirt/dust out. I have removed mine and have yet to replace it with something, although others have already.

You might want to post this in the 348/355 section. There was a thread on this not too long ago (about 3 weeks or so)

    G'day Pap,

Piccy's of my 348? No worries...

Just a few more things to do, Larini exhaust (oddly Larini first said, "in stock" but now to about a couple of months to build) and Hyper-flow cats....hopefully it will sound like it looks :)

Only gripe is 2nd gear is a real bugger when cold :(

Do a search on Redline gear oil and 348. Better 2nd gear cold shifts await you with a fluid change.

+348, Go with Red Line Shockproof gear oil and some modifier. It made a huge difference in my 348TS gear box. I have much better shifting and no 2nd gear issues.

Heya mate, she looks AWESOME! :D:D

    Congrats again! :D:D

Here is my gearbox oil thread. I switched to Redline Shockproof oil and had AMAZING results! Try some for yourself Peter.:eek:

Thanks guys...even though I've got (fresh) Nulon in the trannie, oil's ain't oil's, so I'll give the Redline a try.

I'ts been quite a learning curve getting into the 348. A lot of people tell me I should have got a F355 (a beautiful machine), but even though a WRX-STI *might* beat me to the next set of lights (poor buggers just don't get it) the 348 is still a serious head turner.... :)

BTW apart from the sound...do Larini/Tubi/X-Ost and hyperflows really make a difference??

Put some Redline in there ASAP Peter! ;);)

It will be the best $200 you will ever spend. :D:D

The 355 is also a wonderful car mate. :):)

I reckon you made the right choice!:eek:

I have an XOST fitted to my car and it sounds AWESOME! :D:D

I also made some power. Here is a thread, check it out ol son. :):)

    Awesome car Peter, congrats!

As for the gear oil - definitely Redline, I noticed a major difference when I switched to it.
