My 1992 348TS needs a double-disc Clutch Assy & Flywheel Assy due to a faulty o-ring. Please direct me to any vendors. Much appreciated.
My mechanic told me to find a vendor that takes in core assemblies (exchange credit). Does anyone know of a vendor that will do the exchange credit on rebuilt units?
Just rebuild it. The flywheel can be repacked with grease and a new o-ring fitted to it. While it's apart you can have it resurfaced. As for the clutch plates just get them relined. It will cost you a couple hundred dollars if you do the work yourself. Where as if you buy new parts you are looking at a $5000-$6000 bill and that is just for the parts. The other thing you will need to do, while the clutch is out, is change the triple seals.
Give Friction Materials Co. of Long Beach, California a call 800-422-5882. Ask them about relining the clutch. As for the flywheel, run a search of the archive for repacking it, and do it yourself, or have your mechanic repack it with a new o-ring.
Here's a great step-by-step guide if you plan on overhauling the flywheel on your own (I believe this is board member Gimme Fuel's site): http://www.myferrari.page.tl/348-Clutch-Replacement-Part-4-The-Flywheel.htm http://www.myferrari.page.tl/348-Clutch-Replacement-Part-5-Re_greasing-the-Flywheel.htm
