When I got my TS it had a big rubber bung over one of the roof metal location spikes which I assumed was OEM. I bought the ‘rubber spacer’ from Maranello parts thinking it would match the other side - but it arrived and it’s tiny!

When driving there’s some movement i can feel if I reach up around these spikes, should there be some sort of spacer or bung filling the gap? Any photos of other people’s roof spikes (or solutions) would be helpful

My top was moving as well and would make noise when driving over uneven surface, like pulling into a driveway or something that would make the chassis flex. I just put little pieces of a t-shirt or a rag in the hole around the spike to take up the space. worked a charm. lol
I would think if all seals are fresh it might not do this. Maybe someone else can chime in with theirs. If there is something to use for it I would like to know as well.

Don't have any pictures, but my targa top had the plastic/rubber sleeves on the pins, at least on one side. They tend to stick in the holes behind the seats and eventually both were pulled off, and lost forever*. Given enough driving, not having these might cause some wear on the pins as they rub against the top of the A pillars, but let's be honest, who puts that many miles on a targa with the top up?

As for the movement, I use a thin layer of silicone lubricant to reduce the friction on the surfaces. No more squeaks. Make sure to use a lubricant that is rubber safe...

And for those of you with leaky targa tops or too much movement, the clamp assembly is meant to be shimmed to adjust the tightness, and to make it flush with your roofline. You can buy the shims in different heights (p/n 63238700 will get you in the ballpark), or just make your own. Make sure to check fitment of windows after you shim.

    Happy driving!
