Anyone able to confirm the color scheme for 1966-68 Armstrongs used on Lamborghini? Many restorations tend to make them look like Koni, which we know is not correct. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Olivier, are you sure about the delivery date? As far as I know only 2 or 3 400GT2+2 were delivered in 1965. All other were delivered in 1966 and later. Probably the delivery date is 15/11/1966
What is the purpose of VN-02209 and RN02210? They indeed look like a small machine screw and split or plain washer, but for what purpose and how many? thanks Craig Image Unavailable, Please Login
Darned good question, Craig. Is it a grease fitting? Is it to evacuate moisture? Is it for balancing? No idea. But again, it's amazing how a few hose-clamps can be used to dial the whole mess in. Fred
I think that's right, Craig. In fact, is that my photo? I took one like that of Robert's 400GT #517 a few years ago, after Bobileff restored the shocks. Fred
Going for heat and more leverage. I have not had much luck with WD40 and the like. It would seem an acid spray would be better for rusty nuts. Anyone have experience with this? Also I am going to have to narrow a box end wrench head to fit this space. Only space for 24mm(15/16") open end at this time. Image Unavailable, Please Login
A slightly narrowed, 24mm box end (ring spanner) allowed a more confident level of of force and the rotoflex nuts came right off. Some moderate cleaning was done before picture taken. Quite a "nose" on the pinion that engages the rotoflex. Craig Image Unavailable, Please Login

I'm pretty sure that's a factory photo (green car with female hanging out) Many, many factory photos featured women in them. In fact -- maybe all? I guess two things going on, psychologically speaking. 1 - Guy wants woman in photo. Can get that with a 400GT 2+2 2 - Woman (wife or girlfriend of guy) wants excitement in her life. Can get that with a 400GT 2+2 (What would Freud say?) Fred
Craig, I'm not sure what to say about your "rear end" experiences. Except that I had no real problems getting mine out, or back in. Of course, that was 25 years ago, and I was a lot younger...as was the car. (I wonder what Freud would say about this?) (Maybe "any nose that is long enough to write 'Lamborghini' on it, is quite a long nose indeed") Fred
The pinion nose will not allow the differential to drop straight down and out as the three rubber mount points will allow......so you need to remove the two forward "wing mount" bolts to allow removing the front crossmember, then you can drop the diff rear and pull to the rear to allow this pinion nose to pull free from the driveshaft. Craig, what Gary Bobileff suggested to me for my driveshaft vibration is that assuming the donut isn't bad you need to shift that ball ring's position so that it rides on a spot in the bushing that's not worn. Now that you've posted these pictures I can what he means. Maybe a combination of that and better balancing? Bob S.
This breather is topped with a dome which will not allow even the thinnest standard 17mm wrench to fit. It requires a sheet metal type open end, which even with a thousand tools, i dont seem to have a set of sheet metal metrics or standard (11/16) open ends. I have searched my cheapest motorcycle tool kits, still nutin. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Bob, looks like you could space/shim it forward maybe 1/8". Is there a renewable bushing in the driveshaft? This is lubed only when disassembled/assembled?
What is the frequency of differential oil change on a vintage Lamborghini? Every 60 years? Should it be more frequent? Why? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Owner's book says : 1. check & fill in to level every 5.000 km 2. every 20.000 km replace fluid by new one
I recalled the chuck tools that are supplied with air tools or porting tools usually are sheetmetal. 30 seconds later the very first chuck tool i located was 17mm, perfect! Simple design sfogo of 4 holes shrouded with a metal cap, screen crimped in bottom. Cap appears zinc plated with red paint. no gasket Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks Olivier, Is this differential the same casting/mechanicals as Islero? What is the special gear S 90 for differenziale and guida steering box? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Islero has the same mechanical components to 400 GT 2+2, only bodywork and interior were changed. Making a comparison between 400 GT 2+2 & Islero owner manual, both explanations look similar. Regarding fluid, that's what it seems...
Anyone have additional photos of the drive train for 2+2? check out the 1) air cleaner stickers 2) differential vent (early/late?) 3) marelli condensor position 4) inlet snorkle paint on air cleaners 5) routing of spark wires 6) different texture (from the rest) of oil fill cap 7) ac hold down knobs 8) swirl pattern on fuel hoses 9) ? I hope so Craig, because that one doesn't have the various black colors I would expect to see re the block and valve covers. I think there were a number of cosmetic changes as production continued...but I don't know that for a fact. Fred
