Worked on a variety of projects - grill assembly, brake calipers. What finsh should be on the grill sheet metal, black i know, but gloss black, semigloss black, matt black, flat black??? Interesting 4mm x 0.70 nuts holding the 2 bars in place, 4 studs per bar, brass nuts, carbon steel flat washers. The main SS surround is held with fold over brad ears welded to the backside of the SS, pushed thru holes on the painted sheet metal, and folded like cotter keys. Everything is straight and nice. I bead blasted the sheet metal, but unhappy with results. I need to purchase some aluminum oxide. I am trying to gather data on the location of the air cleaner stickers, that applies to all the 350, the interim 400 , and the first (20-30) 2+2 that the Fiaam sticker would apply to. The are 3 per air cleaner according to my research...2 on the white lid and on one the black body. My drawing is the approximate placement....are there any measurements we can document? Also my research is confirming the red oxide inner paint on this series Fiaam air cleaner(350/400/2+2) shows all the way out the snorkle. In fact all 400GT 2+2 as well. However the red oxide does not show on the Miura or others that have been studied. Cheers Craig Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nice photos Fred, Thank you. Here is one reference from factory brochure pictures. And one of your color photos. Your photo is what I am remembering for placement reference. I dont think dimensions are required after viewing your set of photos. I had thought the Fiaam air cleaner sticker format was blue/white printed on foil backing, common in engine bay stickers of the period (alternator, regulator, etc), but i see the flaking of material on your stickers does not look like metallic base for the sticker. The flaking graphic on the air cleaner black body appears almost like water slide decal. Your 400GT is the latest build i see with OEM Fiaam covers with these stickers. What are the release date and build number ..... #31 of 250? Cheers Craig Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Telaio tipo: GT 400 Matricola: 655 Motore tipo: L400 Matricola: 638 Cambio tipo: Lambor Ponte tipo: Lambor Collaudo il: Bob Wallace Consegnato il: 27-9-66 Cliente: Kaplan S. Argento/Nero Timeless!
Good info Fred, Thanks. I was thinking the build number would help me , but i see I would rather have a sortable database with the capablitity of sorting by - Consegnato, chassis number, engine number, etc........ at my whim for research. Will someone work that up quickly? Excellent start at - http://www.lamborghiniregistry.nl/default.asp?010020000000/001
Another detail, I am sure many have noticed, the grille on earlier 350/400 seem to have two supports (location in red), while the later 400 have a single center support, as shown. Same trim and bars it appears. Cheers Image Unavailable, Please Login
0673 appears well cared for, nice color, headrests it seems, traditional door mirrors, single wiper askew. Is this the "high in the tail stance" of a 2+2? Cheers Craig Image Unavailable, Please Login
Craig, that's probably stock. I lowered mine, it looked like that. To get the "+2" in there all they did was raise the ride. This is the sort of thing Wallace complained about... "marketing tricks." Anyway, that's my take on it! Fred PS: Correct "original factory" color was medium grey (Grigio Media) PPS: Here's a good "rear height": http://www.400gt.com/misc/42a-more-400s/Scan10541.jpg probably just worn out springs, but looks pretty good to me. I'd rather go with the looks in this case. Nobody's really going to be sitting back there.
http://www.vintagelamborghini.com/vlgforum/viewforum.php?f=6 Altho there are nice photos, many parts are not seen..........interior, dashboard, lights, bumpers, radiator, fans, trunk area- gastank, boosters. Maybe the front was hit and no rad or assoc parts? Grill panel shows the end but no structure
That's exactly what those are. I talked to the guy once and he confirmed the car was hit and these are "bucks"
Something about this particular addition that just screams...... John Deere! no, Oliver!no...Massey Ferguson - YES! Rather be safe than sorry! You might be a redneck if ..........you just bought new turn signals for your Lamborghini GT400 2+2 at Tractor Supply. Cheers Craig Come to think of it, maybe these are real Lamborghini turn signals, factory issued! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Often I see these "Tractor Supply" or "Pep Boy" solutions on our glorious chariots! ;^D Folks just get sick of paying the big buks for Italian stuff that doesn't work very well, so they take matters into their own grubby paws. It seems the typical 350/400 owner can fix just about anything, and does -- with just about anything as a part. Of course, I have done the same. Not like Bill Stewart, who used to drain the oil from his 400GT and put it in his wife's Mazada, but I have done the same. Cheers, Fred
what number is this? Looks a lot like Aaron's old car. I'll look up the number Yes! 1138 http://www.400gt.com/data_sheets/build_sheets/index.html So what up with this car??
So what color is this ? factory paint color? or just a nice color? maybe 01342, RHD, rear antenna, nice Borrani Image Unavailable, Please Login
I think we had that puppy on the VLG Craig...rings a bell! Yep -- 1342. Here you go (some nice B+W shots here!): http://www.400gt.com/misc/1342/ Fred
