I have a ??? 350GT-400GT. According to the numbers Chassis is # 0499 Touring # 8975 Engine # 487, is suppose to be a 350 ltr But the engine number I have is #498, and is a 4 ltr Anybody, know anything about this car? Is it a 350 or a 400GT Chadbourn Bolles 803 532 6257 803 798 3044 cell [email protected]
Chassis #0499 should have Touring body #18935 and not #8975 with engine #0487. Engine #0498 is out of sequence, could it perhaps be #0478?
498 is what is stamped in the front of the block. I took a very close look at the Touring tag, and you are correct the number is #18935. The numbers were very hard to make out. This engines air filter housings had 350 stickers on them, or so I have been told. My understanding is only the 350 had stickers on them, the later cars, like the 400GT did not. Could this car be a steel body 350? Thanks a ton for the help, would like to solve the mystery. Chadbourn Bolles 803 532 6257 803 798 3044 cell [email protected]
The number stamped on the front of the block is not the engine number... that refers to something else, any one know? It's a weight. As others said, it's the stamped number on the top of the block between the heads.
# 0499 is 350 GT , not an Interim it was built with engine #0487, a 3.500cc - type L351 it is not a swap done by /at factory... aftermarket 4.0 engine swap Andrew, numbers stamped on front of the block are usually related to production dates... Chad, it will be great that you shoot pics of all the numbers stamped on your block...
Thanks to Gary Bobileff, who can still read us.... the number stamped on the front of the block is the weight of the connecting rods that are used internally in the motor, as an example #498 = 498 grams per connecting... Chad, if there is none number on top of the 2 banks (middle lane), it just means it has been erased... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Or its a replacement engine. I think they are also unstamped?! The photo you attached is a Miura P400 block?
Well, lets try this again. I tried a bit ago to post this and it never showed up. First pic shows front of block with 498 stamped on it, Next pic, and you have to look close, shows number 0487. The number is in the light spot of the pic, look close. Thanks to everyone with the help on this. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Another thing I have found on this 400GT, is the diff is a Lamborghini posi traction unit. I also have a 68 Espada and checked it, and it is not posi traction. Well learn new things all the time about Lamborghini just about every day.
