3500 Engine motor serial number

Hello,

In a vast majority of 3500 gt s, the motor were stamped on the top rear flat of the engine near the carburetor linkage with a chassis number.

A substantial number of cars, this was NOT the case.....

Near the front of the engine, left side, near the water pump, there is also a number stamped....

Question: Would this be a motor number? Should this match the chassis? Or, was this an internal motor number used by the factory?

The number stamped on the front near the water pump does not match the chassis. The factory has a record and can tell you if that motor number came with your chassis.
