I'm just back from my first longish road trip since my rebuilt ZF 5spd. All went well, except the old wet, lead/acid battery, which sat the 2 1/2 years whilst waiting for the transmission rebuild, acted up on me, and we required a jump at one point.
I've slowly started converting the fleet over to Optima batteries, and was wondering if any other 3500 GT guys have done so, or have another solution? Wet batteries sloshing around in that delicate trunk area just doesn't make sense anymore.
Also wondering about a more secure hold down for the Optima, or what ever is suggested.

    Many Thanks, RF.

Are you sure that the battery is the problem?
I emptied a new battery in a half days driving with lights, both ventilation fans, windscreen whipers on?
The electric consumption of one of the fans is hugh. If you drive with low revs, the dynamo delivers modest current only.
So, with night driving and rain, the fullest battery is rapidly empty.
