Today i heard about a car that is for sale. It is supposed to be in "good condition" but with an american 289 engine fitted! The original engine is part of the deal, condition unknown, but one can guess what state is in since they went through the trouble of converting to us muscle.
It is an injection car. I have my QP 1 to worry about but it sounds like a fun project to fix this one.
Is it even possible to re-convert considering the damage done? I haven't heard about a v8 3500, has it been done elsewhere?
    How much should it cost?

Many cars in the US had been converted in the late 60s/early 70s to V8-power as the Maserati twin-cam engine with double ignition was too complicated to fix for the local mechanic around the corner and the US-V8 had more power.

I know of some cars that had been converted to its original specification. If you get hold of an original engine then the project makes sense. If the car comes with V8 then its much less valuable. How much less? I have no idea as I don`t know the condition of the car that surrounds the V8...:)

Post more details and photos of the car and you'll get some valid opinions on value.

    Ciao and best!

Agreed. The Ford 289 is a great engine. But a Maserati with a Ford engine is not a Maserati.

Get somebody who really knows the Maserati to inspect it including the original engine and give you a full report on what you are considering buying. Consider the cost of this inspection to be part of your purchase price.
