Your alternator adventure reminds me last year almost to the day. Taking out the alternator and fitting a heat shield was one of the first things my (then) new 308 gt4 needed: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=135931666&postcount=31 It was the last Friday of June, about this same time of day, I had the car jacked up and was searching f-chat for threads on alternator removal.
Beta, Saw you thread, looks like my Alternater,,, Nice heat shield too. Edwardo I had a nice weekend, BBQ, surf and such. (Hope you did too.) Grounds to both DigiPlex units were 0.9 Ohms,, See the ground above the units, ,,, I cleaned this then added a ground wire up to the front and attached it to the (– term on the battery.. Fired car up, FWD. bank fires,,,,, then doesn’t,,,,,, then fires,, then doesn’t. I see one sensor has frayed wires, I will replace today. But, it is behind the oil cooler line. (Arrrgggg, it’s gonna be a PITA.) It looks suspect, and I am at that point in troubleshooting. HELP:::::: ! If I switch the 11 pin DigiPlex Connectors, should the rear bank then start to run like crap and the forward bank run OK...? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well, if you switch the 11 pin conn.'s on the Digiplex,,,, you also switch the sensors,, so, no change. (rats)
Your windshield should be ready to ship by the end of the month. It will be clear with a blue tinted sun band (as per original) unless you tell me different.
Windshield $ 1,000.00 ready for purchase. (Yes, I like blue stripe.) Thanks Clive.. 4th of July, God bless America! Disassemble and repair drivers mirror and rear license plate light bracket. Install new sensor for RPM, under oil line. Switched the coils to see if the engine misfire will move, from the fwd. to the Rear bank. Flushed the cooling system with 2 gal of Distilled water. Start car, It really runs good on that rear bank . ( Aaarrgg) Idea, tomorrow switch the rotors ? Found it, found it, found it......! One rotor is 0.073" too short, thus, the front bank would run, then not, then run...... etc.....! (And, this is more fun then watching Al Gore and his Live Earth concerts.) New Rotors now cost more then the QV's,,, $ 350.00 usa..each ! But, if you call Ferrari Parts Specialists (336) 499-2500 [email protected] You can get them for about $20.00 usa Note; these rotors will be too big and require some machine work. Sunday morning, Nice day,, sun out lil hazy,,,,,, 65 deg F. Good day to attack the fuel tank hoses, Lower balance tube and the fuel pump suction. First, turn off all pilot lights,,, No Fumar! Wire up hot lead to fuel pump. (Correctly) Used pump to pump out fuel tanks. But there will be two gallons of gasoline left. (Danger) Now, disconnect the battery. Next, cut off lines, collect gas in drain pans, poor gas into your truck. (Dont waste the premium.) Install new Blue Silicon fuel line. ( 1.5, 0.75 and 0.5) Use new hose clamps. Reconnect battery, put five gallons of fuel back in tank. Reconnect battery. Test fuel pump, check for leaks with a Bic Lighter. (NOT) Drink beer. Hey Edwardo, While I down a cold brewski, Cinder sips a bit of Napa Valley Chard. Why? We drink to your continued forward progress with your Mondi project. I know the glass is too full but I don't want her to get stuck in the rim Cheers, Hank Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hank and Cinder, Hello, Cute kitty! Tippy doesn't like wine. Tippy enjoys the outdoors. (see photo) 1981 Euro Motore' Heads Off! You won't believe what I found.... one piston exploded, only one bent valve, Cams ok,,, and, only one pin point ding in the Euro Cylinder Head...! (who hooo, , am I lucky.....!) (Photos to be added tomorrow) Meanwhile, What about this 63mm throttle body,,,, huh,,,,? And, it comes with the proper throttle position indicator. (Anybody what to guess from what car...?) Tomorrow, Edwardo Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
At Home last night, took photos (See 2v block,,, ok) The liner took the most of the force. Also, unbelievable, the cylinder head only has one bent valve, and zero damage. (Smile) Im way too lucky. (Whew) I think I want to buy a power ball Lottery ticket today. But, first I want to get a look at the crank shaft. (See photos of transfer gear removal and home made tool.) And, yes I removed the wrong nut. Oops ! (You guys know it is only the bottom nut you need to take off.) I will crack the bottom one tomorrow.. Mark pressure plate, flywheel and the crank. (All to maintain a neutral balance.) See main seal is gone. ($ 7.00 NAPA part.) Drink nice Merlot. Next, pull the block off the oil pan. Oh, good question. Those metal Piston scraps were removed from the #2 cylinder, after I got the head off. They are what is left of a cast BORGO piston, after it grenaded at 2,500 RPM... (Also see, one piece of a piston ring is stuck in the intake valve.)
Good Lord man, this just goes from bad to worse! It's good to see that you are maintaining your sense of humor about it. What caused the piston to grenade? Also, where'd you get the 1.5" fuel hose?? Birdman
