355/360/430/575 on auto

I was just wondering, about the automatic. Can you turn it on when you are in motion? When you come to a stop, does the car go right into neutral? If you turn the car off when in auto, will it be in auto when you turn it back on? Do you ever use the car in auto?

 

Automatic mode is just a button, you press it whenever you want, it will disengage as soon as you touch one of the paddles. When you come to a stop, the car will downshift (in a clunky way in the case of the 355 F1) then stay in first. I use it very seldom, mostly when someone is driving the car for the first time and I want him/her to focus on steering/braking.
