    Anyone tested or using wider tires on there 10" rears?

    I know 295's should work.... I'm wondering about 305/30/19

    I thought I saw a post regarding this, but now I can't find it....

    I saw that thread, thanks..... but it's discussing 11" rears and the stock are 10's. Michelin says their 305/30/19 need 10.5.

    I would go with the recommended wheel size if possible. It is possible to mount tires a little wider or narrower on wheels, but it affects the shape of the tire contact patch which compromises the performance of the tire. Squeezing a tire wider than the width wheel it was meant for would make the tire cross-section more round and therefore have a smaller contact patch and wearing down the middle of the tire contact patch faster.

    Something to keep in mind when changing tires is that the level of grip is not only changed in the longitundinal directions (forward/backward) but also in the lateral directions. When you turn, the tires have a slip angle (they don't point directly in the direction your car is moving... nothing has perfect friction). This slip angle creates the lateral grip that turns your car. The ideal level of lateral grip in the front and rear tires is directly proportional to the front/rear weight distribution. If you move to a tire that has a larger amount of lateral grip, but requires a larger slip angle to generate it, it will unbalance the car near the limit. (In plain english) This means that as you enter a turn and start approaching the limit of lateral grip, the rear end of your car will feel unsettled and then as the limit is reached on the front tires, the rears will start to climb way up on the lateral grip, creating a lot of understeer. How much all depends on how much the slip angle vs. lateral grip change compared to the tires that are designed for the use with the car.

    So, if you want to stay with stock width rims, you have tire size limits.

    If you change rims, you have options.

    All the above gives you is an idea of tire sizes and their effects.

    Nothing stated about out of pocket costs. That you have to decide.

    It's like dealing with women. One you decide to deal with them you know it's going to cost!

    Chaa, you are on the stock wheels, correct? How about Ferrarifan, is he on 10" wheels also?

    i think ferrarifan 's rim size is 11 or 12 it is not 10 or 10.5 thats why his tires look so wide and good. the rims are bbs.

    you know Letsjet i cant find the thread, so i dont know for sure but i dont think there standard. I to would like to know if 305s will fit becourse i am due another set of Kumhos next month :D
