Dear all, Contemplating on what to do for my 30k major service. At the moment it's probably the ricambi service kit with hills bearings, water pump, all belts, engine and gearbox mounts, manifolds, powerflex bushings. I was wondering whether it would be a good idea to change all of the engine water hoses to polyurethane products instead of using the originals. Does anyone know if the ricambi kit as pictured is any good? Also any additional service items I have missed, please suggest. Thanks in advance! FX Image Unavailable, Please Login
I installed that exact kit on my 355 during it's major. as a note: I had to trim the hoses from and to the water pump as they were about a 1/2 inch to long if I remember correctly causing them to kink. I called Daniel at Ricambi and he called the manufacture to verify that trimming them would be ok. Every Ferrari is a bit different so you may not need to trim them.
new hoses are a great thing to do. had one go on the 348 and was a real pain. doing during an out engine service on the 355 a joy. One issue I did have was one of the banjo bolts on the gearbox oil cooler pipes. This sheared last year and, unknown to me, dumped the oil on the road behind. first thing I noticed was lack of gears. my gearbox shop stopped counting the cost of spares needed at £10k. Luckily I had a spare from a few years ago. You never how what has been done to these bolts before and how tight they have been done up when replacing the engine. I now prefer new ones done up to reco torque. although cant remember what that is before you ask sorry!
Put the entire Scuderia Rampante Hose set on my 355 when I did my major. Best money I spent! Amazing quality!
