I was able to acceloelate to 9000 RPM in 3rd gear without fuel cut off, is that normal? My car has modifications to the air intake high flow CATS and Tubi exhaust but no ECU remapping.

Redline is 8500 rpm, the limiter is at 9200 if memory serves me correctly? I'm not an owner yet so perhaps someone else can chime in. In my opinion I wouldn't worry, Schumacher had his own F355 modified by the factory to have a 10k redline! These motors are pretty solid.

I'm hoping someone else can chime in to either confirm or set the record straight regarding a redline on a 355... I just love these cars though!

I have seen similar RPMs on my F355 (9200) however the fuel cutoff is at 8700 (verified on a dyno)-- this leads me to believe that the RPM gauge may not be as accurate as you might want to believe.

Either Rifledriver of possibly Dave Helms told a story of the original F355 engine where it was designed for 10K RPMs and 500-odd HP. The story goes that the weak link were the belts, so the engine was detuned to what the belts would tollerate and a few parts changed (cam timing, velocity stack length, header lengths and maybe widths). But the majority of the parts can tollerate this kind of use--its just that we don't know what parts won't.

It would be interesting to find out who has successfully tune up these engines up to those numbers, with good engine longevity. Probably some of the challenge guys...I'm guessing.

While I love high rpm engines I am not interested in taking mine any higher than the specified 8500, I rarely take it past 8000 even. RPM is the main factor (along with a proper tune) that dictates engine life. Race engines measure their life in hours, simply lowering the redline by 10% could add 25% to the life of the engine. The F355 (most Ferraris) comes with a slightly retuned race engine and I want mine to last as long as possible. It's not worth sacrificing any engine life for a few hundred or a thousand more revs IMO.
