Hey guys, I know I don't post alot but I am always lurking and appreciative of all the things I learn from the site (Thanks!). Has anyone ever had to replace the vent/air condition recirculation button (on the console between the seats, near the ash tray) on the 355 ('96). It's a style of button that you press once to engage and press again to dissengage. Mine isn't "catching" at the bottom, so no matter how many times you depress it, it just springs back up to the 'non recirculation' position. I'm trying to find out what I would be getting into before opening up the console between the seats. Has anyone got any experience with replacing this switch? How hard is it to get to/replace? Do I need to disconnect the battery? Anyone got a ballpark figure of what the switch costs (so I know if I should have smelling salts nearby when I call around for the part-lol). Thank in advance for your help and thanks again for all the great information on this site!

Removal of the HVAC Control Unit is simple - pull the ash tray, remove one screw, lift out control unit and unplug electrical connector on back. Unfortunately, the individual switches are NOT replaceable. However, you can remove the control unit and open it up. Perhaps, if you clean the switch with electrical contact cleaner and check the spring and contacts, you might get it to engage. If you can't get it to work, maybe an electrical shop could R&R the contacts. In addition, I suppose you could replace the OEM switch with a similar aftermarket type, but it certainly wouldn't look very good. The HVAC Control Units are very expensive - approximately $1680.00. I believe someone has a brand new one for sale in FerrariAds for $700.00 or BO. Good luck.

You're Amazing! Yes, by all means, if you can't fix your button, send the entire unit to Robbie at http://www.stickynomore.com/. He'll R&R your recirculation button and he can also replace your (most likely) sticky, bubbled HVAC control panel. It will look brand new. Why not kill two birds with one stone? The quality of his work is second-to-none.

Thanks to all for your replies/help. Been away for the holidays and still not home yet. As soon as I'm back, I'll get to doing a good diagnosis and follow up on the leads you guys were kind enough to give me. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend!
