I was just giving the car a final hoover befor the dads day out and my alarm went off. All the key fobs are working but none will reset the alarm . The door locks still work when the alarm is going off. I,ve only managed to stop it by operating the battery isolator and then some seconds later it stops. I've even managed to start the engine with the alarm sounding which makes me think there is a quite a problem. I left it completely alone for 30mins just in case the CPU was confused and needed time to reset but as soon as I switch the isolator on again off it goes. (Really noisy ). If I cant get it sorted then I wont be alble to drive at the dads day out.Is there secret reset button or proceedure. Any sugesstions gratefully accepted. Reposted as I put in the wrong catagory initially Rob
If its only the alarm sounding and the car runs as normal, adapt and over come with a temporary fix. If i needed to use the car for an important appointment. I would disconnect/snip the wire at the alarm box, and fix it/look into it on my return. Thats my idea anyway.
Unplug the siren module- It's behind the inspection panel in the left front wheelwell- Reach behind the washer bottle and you'll find the siren- the plug is on the back and has a plastic tab- push the tab in and pull it out of the module- This will allow you to drive the car until you can get it to the dealer- the only thing you'll notice is the red LED on the dash stays illuminated while you drive indicating a siren malfunction- Sounds like some sort of ECU fault that they can probably clear.
