    Hi Guys,

I just got a 1995 355 GTB, and was looking to install an Alarm System on the car, seeing as how the 1995s didn't come with OEM Alarm. Any suggestions on what to go with? I'm completely clueless as to Alarms as all my other cars have OEM alarms :S

    Thanks

    Why?

Just adds more weight and unnecessary electronics and wiring.

    What's the purpose of it?

The selective thief that wants to steal your 355 will not be deterred.

A casual thief won't bother with a Ferrari.

Alarm systems on exotics really don't make much sense to me.

Then they need to specify at least a grade of alarm or supply an approved list - you don't want to install one for them to say its not good enough

I have same year 355 and insurance company is requesting the same thing.... not that I would want mine back if stolen but my insurance company is happy with a GPS locating device.

True ...I managed to get them to settle on a GPS tracking device, like a Lojack. The new ones dont connect to the battery and are allegedly guaranteed for 5 yrs. Price is decent too.

I'm pretty sure - few others available but boomerang seems to be tried, tested, and true.

Ferrari's are not stolen (like Vettes Vipers, Porsches) Because there is no* real market for used Ferrari Parts (like there are for other higher production vehicles with less discriminating owners.)

(*) There are not very many opportunities to unload Ferrari parts on the used market.

But if you want a security system 1911A or M9 works well.

Install a kill switch in the left front wheel whale, behind the wheel about three inches inwards from the lip of the fender. Ooooops, did I just give out the location of the kill switch?
