Crossposting from Technical forum... Anyone know what the specs are for a good street set up on a 355? Yes, I did a search and came up with a few threads about alignments, but didn't see any actual specs. Right now my steering feels completely vague... at high speed things seem to be ok, but at low speed it pulls to the right, and under hard acceleration it REALLY pulls to the right. I have to keep the wheel turned about 15-20 degrees to the left to keep the car straight. Not sure if this is related to the alignment, steering, shocks, bushings, or just loose suspension components, but something is definitely wrong. Hard acceleration from a standstill is actually pretty scary... I set the tire pressures to spec and torqued the wheels down already, so my next thing is to get it properly aligned to see if that fixes it (I've had issues in the past with crazy steering due to loose wheel bolts). I hope that's all it is, but I had it in the shop not too long ago and they said the alignment was fine... -R
Hey Robin, I hope all is well. I would have suggested making sure the tires are inflated properly, but it looks like you got that covered. How long has this been going on?
Your symptoms are not normal for a 355 so before you add the additional variable of an alternate alignment setup you should find out what is wrong. Get it to someone who understands chassis and have it looked over and aligned to stock specs first. Something or things have been missed and need to be found before experimentation begins.
Hey Eric, aside from car problems everything's pretty cool. Assuming I can get everything sorted out, I'm driving the 355 back up to DC next month. Anyway, it was fine up until this past weekend. My car is in FL now so I've only driven it 3 or 4 times in the last 3 months. However, the road that leads to my neighborhood, in typical FL fashion, was a complete mess of bumps and potholes up until they finished repaving it a few weeks ago. Before it was repaved I did manage to smack some huge holes though, so I'm wondering if I knocked something out of whack. It's also up to almost 36,000 miles... Is there a point where shocks/bushings/etc tend to wear out? Thanks for the input Rifledriver. Think I'll drop it off with one of the local independents and have everything checked out. -R
