Waiting on the new part to come in. Looking at the install it seems tight to impossible to remove the pulley/bracket in-situ. Am I paranoid or does it come out "easily", relative to F-car.

    thanks Brian

Ah we are talking about the center bearing found under the engine in the centure...right? This bearing is used for the large auxilery belt on the 355.
Yes it can be done in situ, i did mine a two years back. First it is important to remember that the large bolt on the underside of the bearing housing is the aduster and to turn it CLOCK WISE will LOOSEN the bearing on the belt. And to turn it ANT-CLOCK WISE will tighten the bearing on the belt.
The real "pig" of a nut (and there is always one;) ) is the top nut that holds the bearing to the engine block, via 3 studs that pass through it. There are 3 of them at 13mm each. But the top one is very awcward to get at. A spanner can fit onit but you can only turn it 2 flats at a time.
Top tip now dude:D Remove the studs after the 3 nuts have been removed so to be able to remove the bearing and housing. Remembering to copperslip the new studs when replacing. Job took me two hourse to do in situ....walk in the park.

It is pretty easy to double nut the studs, and pull them off. Do the top one first, so everything is steady while you remove the stud.

It is important to retension the belt correctly. Make sure the big locknut is almost tight, to prevent the pully from cocking as you put tension on it. I used a liberal amount of antisieze on the slot where the pulley shaft slides up and down.

How tight is tricky, I got mine pretty tight, and I still had to give it another tweak in a couple of days because I could hear it squeeling.
