    I am replacing the alternator on my F355. How the hell do you remove the 17mm top mounting bolt??? As far as I can tell, you would need a couple of box-end 17mm wrenches with all kinds of special bends in them, and they would need to be long for leverage.

    There's got to be an easier way. Anyone know?

    (That bottom bolt with a 10mm allen wrench was a great idea also!..NOT)

    If the alt is like my 348, you have to remove the aluminium casting that supports the shift cables. Note that the upper stud for the casting is very short for a reason and I think should have a spring lock washer on it, not split lock washer. My bolt came out towards the rear of the car. My car is being repaired and 200 miles away. Good luck.
