It truly was a nice thing to do Steve. We are getting together this weekend in Southern California for our third Wounded Warriors Run. We go to Camp Pendelton (near San Diego), each pick up a WW and drive down the coastline to a catered lunch/car show at a local exotics dealership. It's really a great feeling to share our love of cars with the men and women who helped provide the freedom that allows us to own and drive these great machines.

Great story Steve! I haven't had that kind of humanitarian experience with this topic but have had a couple of just making smiles stories.

One happened last summer at a popular beach area when the valets let me park in the area they had set aside for valet only cars. We took a walk around after dinner and on coming back to the car there were two younger couples by the car and one guy was in front of the car on the ground while his girlfriend took pics. Lets just say these folks listen to a type of music and dress in a way that I don't. Anyway, when I approached the car they sort of stood back a bit embarrassed in a way. I said hey, go sit in the car , you'll get better pics. The guy was was just shocked and said really? I said sure. So he gets in the drivers seat, I told his buddy to get in the other seat. They're having a blast posing for the girlfriends. The girls were dressed to kill so I told them to get in the pics and work it and they went nuts posing, etc. I took a ton of pics, with their phones, it was hilarious!

The valet came running out out and said what the heck is going on and when I told him it was my car he just shook his head. I should have them send me some of the pics but didn't.

This year at the same spot a Dad and his son were looking at the car and I again offered for pics in it. The Dad said this son isn't the car guy its my other son. I said go get him. He calls his wife and is 11 year old comes and just starts going on abut this and that Ferrari and exotic and knows his stuff. I told him to get in the car and made sure it was in neutral and had him start it and punch the accelerator a few times. Tremendous stuff!

Just have fun with it if you have the chance, You'll make some unexpected people have a great day.

This sounds like an excellent, if somewhat inefficient, way to decrease the number of potential "car keyers". ;>) I plan to do it on Columbus Day in SF.

What a great story and what a great gesture on your part. If there is any reciprocity in this world and I would like to think there is you have a lot coming your way and its all good.

And here I was thinking I was just living in a bubble full of morons.. for every positive thumbs up and giddy childish smile that goes by there are an equally similar number of dicks and haters out there either cutting you off, giving you dirty looks or gunning their engines in their crappy cars (typically aftermarket parted out civics and junkers with no paint). It is those moments of sunshine and the people that appreciate the car that makes it all worthwhile. They hate what they are too lazy to work for.
