Well from the looks of things it seems my battery is dead. I was told I am able to charge the battery from the rear engine bay. I plan on charging the battery this weekend so any help would be greatly appreaciated!!

    Thanks.

Yes, you can charge from the engine compartment...read the manual on how to jump start the engine...it will show where the connections are.

However, the manual does not tell you that you must remove the panel on the passenger side of the engine compartment in order to access the charging post.

I guess you just have to remove three screws and then off comes the cover.

I am picking up my battery charger today so my battery holds the charge.
The light on the inside of the door still lights up when I open the door so there must be some juice left in that battery.

    Thanks.

    A couple tips:

    1) Check and top up your battery with distilled water. It is a pain, since it is located in the right front wheel well, but for that very reason, they never get checked.

    2) Wire up a battery tender, either hard wired to the battery with the pigtail running up into the trunk. Or, in the alternative, spice on a cigarette lighter adapter and plug it into your lighter whenever the car is parked in your garage.

You can get the battery tender for a great price here:

The cigarette lighter adapter is available at Radio Scrap.
http://snipurl.com/w95p I would make this up, with at least 8 feet of cord, so you don't have to leave the charger itself, inside the car...just in case the charger decides to fry or something...better it is sitting on the garage floor.

Well I ran the battery charger on my car for about 10 hours the other day.

I tried starting the car up and came up empty. Not even a crank??
Maybe this battery is done or maybe I need to keep the charger on longer?

The one thing I found funny was the reader/gauge on the battery charger seemed to not be reading right, the longer I kept it attached to the battery. The moment I hooked it up to my car it read 50% charged then after 5-6 hours it read 25% charged? Am I missing something here??

    Thanks.

    Vince C.

I will be investing in a trickle charger so this never happens again!

It is dead...time for a new one.

You need either a size 34R ("R" standing for "reversed terminals" ) or a 34/78. Someone said the current Interstate 34R will not fit right, as the lip on the bottom of the case has changed dimensionally, and will not clamp down properly. Not sure about the Interstate 34/78. Costco has a 34/78 for cheap, and rated with a pretty high CCA of like 900 or something, and a 3 year free replacement warranty.

The 34/78 is a "universal" sized battery, and the terminals are closer to the center line of the battery, so you can reverse the orientation, and the cables will still reach.

When you connected the charger are you sure you had the polarity right?

I am sure I had everything hooked up right..I think the battery did not want to hold the charge. It might be time to swap it out.
I don't know how old it is so it maybe the original?

    Thanks.

Vince, I read your woes and thought I'd tell you that I installed a battery tender on my 355. It works great.

You simply remove the RH side engine compartment cover, and wire the supplied pigtial to the Pos and Neg terminals.

I replaced the engine compartment cover, having threaded the pigtial plug up thru the opening for the rear shock.

Now, standard operating procedure is to pop the rear deck after shutting the car down, walk to rear and plug'er in.

    Could not be easier!

Thanks for all the feedback guys....

It looks I am going to buy a battery today and attempt to install it. Not sure how complicated this is but I am going to give it a try. If anyone has a diagram or tips they can share with me I would be forever in your debt!!

    Thanks!
