I have searched the forum, but no luck. i wanted to know if there is a first point of contact regarding battery power loss or faulty alternator. my car stood still for a few months. battery is less then a year old, did a jump start but after running/driving the car for a short trip, the battery goes dead again. no sign of battery light on dash, otherwise i would have guessed alternator not charging. is there a fuse for alternator? i dont want to get the battery out just yet. any advice would be appreciated, thanks :)

First, you should check the voltage on the battery (with a multimeter) while the engine is running. If it is 13V to 14V, and stays around there when you switch the headlights on, the alternator is good.

If the alt. is good, then your battery is probably bad. If the battery is left to discharge to below 10.8V, and be there over a longer period of time, its capacity will be "eaten-up' by an irreversible sulphation process on the plates. The battery then cannot be charged any more. It may take some charge but it will hold it only for a short period of time and go "dead" again.

In the case of some high quality (expensive) batteries, it may be possible to revive them from the mentioned condition by special charging methods (can take a couple of days) and it is better if done by a battery specialist.

Take it to a pro, Non of us knows anything about the mystical creature known as a 355.

But Id say its your battery, Its been sitting you had to jump it, not to far fetched that the battery is toast.
